Role Description

La Garenne International School is looking to appoint a University Admissions Counsellor to guide our students on their educational journeys. This role involves close collaboration with colleagues, parents, and students to establish personalized pathways tailored to each student's needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Implement and oversee the Higher Education & Futures (HEF) programme, ensuring compliance with the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with the school’s HEF Coordinator to prepare Secondary School students for university admissions.
  • Work with other HEF providers to deliver comprehensive support for students.
  • Maintain individualized HEF pathways for Secondary School students.
  • Liaise with various school departments to get a holistic view of each student to aid in pathway personalization.
  • Consult regularly with students and parents to establish and refine HEF pathways.
  • Manage country-specific application processes and lead in-house workshops for students and staff.
• Organisation & Administration:
  • Assist the HEF Coordinator in maintaining a HEF Calendar with key dates for careers and university guidance.
  • Support in managing HEF systems, ensuring student data is up to date and progress is closely monitored.
  • Oversee the complete application process, including writing references and supporting application materials.
  • Facilitate access to SAT, IELTS, and other admission tests, including logistics and registration support.
  • Arrange university visits and ensure attendance at local fairs to strengthen university applications.
  • Coordinate seminars and workshops related to the HEF programme.
  • Work with the Marketing Team to promote the HEF programme at La Garenne.
  • Organize an annual 'Futures Week' for Secondary School students.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding application and progress updates.
• General Duties:
  • Be available (on campus or remotely) following the release of examination results to support analysis of HEF pathways.
  • Pursue professional development related to HEF pathways.
  • Teach related subjects as required, considering the role's demands.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and respect towards all members of the La Garenne community.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Head of Section or School Principal.

All teachers are expected to participate in various activities to ensure student supervision and strengthen communication beyond the classroom, including:

• Parent/Teacher Days
• Student parties (Halloween, Christmas & End of Year Celebration)
• Staff Christmas Party
• Weekend study sessions (Saturday mornings)
• Overnight Group Expedition (at least once a year)
• Boarding duties on a rota basis
• Ski Race and Medal Presentation Ceremony
• Charity Days
• School Challenge Days
• Sports Day
• School Show & End of Year Ceremony
