Job Purpose
The School Support Assistant provides reliable and flexible support to the School Shop and various other areas of the School throughout a fixed-term contract of 12 months. Responsibilities include planned work during the biannual stock takes in January and July, as well as participation in the annual Essentials Fair. Additionally, the post holder may be called upon for support during staff absences, alumni reunions, special occasions, busy periods, and other operational requirements.
Post holders are expected to act as ambassadors for Aiglon, delivering a helpful and professional service while confidently adapting to diverse duties, teams, and working environments.
Contract and Availability
This position is a fixed-term contract lasting 12 months. Attendance is planned for the January stock take, July stock take, and the annual Essentials Fair on pre-communicated dates.
Additional assignments may be offered throughout the year based on operational needs and will be arranged in accordance with the School’s requirements and the post holder’s availability.
Working hours may vary depending on assignments and could include early mornings, evenings, or weekends for special events.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Twice-Yearly Stock Takes - January and July
- Accurately count merchandise and follow stock take procedures as instructed.
- Record and input quantities clearly and correctly, and double-check discrepancies when required.
- Reorganize shelves and storage areas, ensuring products are appropriately labelled and sized.
- Identify damaged, missing, or obsolete items and promptly report inconsistencies.
- Support restocking, merchandising, and preparation of the shop for reopening.
Essentials Fair
- Assist in setting up the Fair, including moving boxes and furniture, counting and labelling stock, checking barcodes, and preparing displays.
- Distribute stationery orders and deliver goods to buildings or boarding houses as required.
- Welcome and advise students and parents regarding uniforms, expedition kits, and other purchases.
- Utilize the checkout system to invoice purchases and label clothing with name tapes.
- Pack away remaining stock and restock the School Shop after the Fair.
On-Call and Additional Support
- Provide temporary cover when staff members are absent or when other short-term needs arise.
- Support alumni reunions, school events, special occasions, and other busy periods.
- Assist with customer service, reception duties, sales, stock handling, setup, pack-down, deliveries, administration, or other assignments as required.
- Follow the instructions of the manager responsible for each assignment and work cooperatively with the team.
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks consistent with the role and the post holder’s skills and training.
Working Conditions
The work may take place in the School Shop, storage areas, event spaces, or other locations across the campus. The role may involve lifting and moving boxes or furniture, standing for extended periods, and working in busy, fast-paced environments.
Appropriate induction, instructions, and task-specific training will be provided.
Other Tasks and Responsibilities
- Undertake any other tasks reasonably requested by the School Shop Manager to assist in the smooth operation of the School Shop.
- Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those related to safeguarding children and young people.
- Comprehend the School’s Guiding Principles and uphold the ethos of the School at all times.
