Job Purpose
The Invigilator plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and security of the assessment and examination process. This position ensures that all examinations are conducted in strict adherence to regulations, providing candidates with an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities while preventing malpractice and administrative errors. Invigilators are also responsible for adhering to the school’s safeguarding policies at all times.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Conduct examinations according to the regulations and guidelines of Aiglon College and relevant exam boards (including SAT, CollegeBoard, IB, JCQ, Pearson, and CIE).
- Ensure all candidates have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
- Safeguard and secure examination materials throughout the examination process.
- Prevent malpractice and administrative failures.
- Foster a secure examination environment by following the school’s policies.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Reliable, flexible, and readily available during major exam periods.
- Possesses clear, authoritative, yet calm communication skills, along with effective interpersonal abilities.
- A reassuring presence that can effectively manage group situations.
- Basic IT skills (e.g., familiarity with email and mobile messaging).
- Detail-oriented with strict adherence to compliance and seating protocols.
Main Duties in Detail
Before Examinations
- Report to and be briefed by the Exams Officer/SAT Coordinator prior to each exam session.
- Ensure the security of confidential examination question papers and materials.
- Prepare examination rooms according to required arrangements.
- Admit candidates under formal conditions and provide proper instructions.
During Examinations
- Supervise and observe candidates at all times while minimizing disruptions.
- Handle emergencies or irregularities effectively and report them as needed.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and monitor examination timings.
After Examinations
- Instruct candidates to finish their exams and collect scripts in order.
- Dismiss candidates appropriately from the examination room.
- Securely return all materials to the Exams Officer/SAT Coordinator.
Other Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide support to candidates with access arrangements.
- Assist with exam-related administrative tasks as needed.
- Engage in required invigilator training.
- Undertake any reasonable tasks assigned by the Exams Officer/SAT Coordinator to ensure smooth operations.
- Adhere to all school policies, particularly those related to child safeguarding.
- Uphold the ethos of the School at all times.
