Your Mission

Job Description

  • Collector Concepts Development: Contribute to designing and developing new CO₂ collector system architectures, translating sorbent and process requirements into manufacturable equipment. Support the creation of innovative concepts and aid in their realization through engineering design.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Assume a hands-on role in prototyping and testing collector concepts and subsystems. Design and execute experiments to validate performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize designs for reliability and scalability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with sorbent scientists, process engineers, and mechanical designers to ensure seamless integration of materials and processes. Support the scale-up of technologies from lab to pilot and industrial scale.
  • Engineering & Industrialization Support: Assist in transitioning concepts to manufacturable products, contributing to detailed design, design-for-manufacture, and compliance. Collaborate with the Industrialization team to ensure robust new technology implementation.
  • Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Document designs, test results, and learnings to facilitate knowledge sharing and accelerate development processes. Actively contribute to improving engineering practices.

Your Story

Requirements

  • Education & Experience: A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field, combined with 2–5 years of experience in equipment development, ideally involving thermal systems, vacuum, or steam processes.
  • Hands-On Innovation: Experience in building and testing lab-scale or pilot-scale hardware, with a passion for solving engineering challenges and iterating designs rapidly.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) with a solid understanding of mechanical design, prototyping, and testing. Familiarity with sorbents or thermal separation technologies is a plus.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Ability to thrive in multidisciplinary teams with effective communication across functions. A proactive mindset and collaborative spirit are essential.

Salary is determined based on job seniority and the local market median, as assessed by external benchmarks. Individual compensation will also reflect your skills, experience, and the value you add to the team.

Formalities

This position is based in Opfikon, Zurich, and we require you to work onsite at least three days a week. The percentage indicated in the job title signifies flexibility; you may choose full-time or part-time based on your needs.
