Job Opportunity: Teacher of Visual Arts

We are seeking a passionate Teacher of Visual Arts to join our esteemed international boarding school, situated in the stunning Swiss Alps. Our school caters to students aged 4-18, and we are committed to providing a nurturing and inspiring educational environment.

Main Duties

  • Teach across a diverse age and ability range, tailoring lessons to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Engage actively in the broader school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and other enrichment programs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in our Creative Arts & Design Department.
  • Contribute to the vibrant boarding life of the school.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and the enhancement of teaching practices.
  • Mentor a small group of learners, supporting their academic progress and well-being.
  • Manage departmental resources effectively, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized workspace at all times.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding the welfare of all students.
  • Handle subject-related administrative tasks and participate in departmental meetings as necessary.
  • Follow the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parents’ meetings when required.

Person Specification

  • A good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly related subject.
  • A commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • A genuine passion for the subject that inspires others.
  • An openness to embracing innovations in teaching and learning, with a willingness to experiment with new methodologies.
  • An ability to supervise learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English as a mother tongue.
  • A shared vision with La Garenne International School, including a holistic approach to education, with enthusiasm for contributing to co-curricular and pastoral life.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and collaborate with colleagues and leadership.
  • Proficient in ICT, with a willingness to integrate new technologies into the classroom.
