Job Opportunity: Teacher of MYP Science & Mathematics

We are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of MYP Science & Mathematics to join our vibrant community at our beautiful all-through 4-18 international boarding school in the Swiss Alps. Main Duties

  • Teach across the age and ability range, adapting lessons to meet the diverse needs of each student.
  • Contribute to the wider school life by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities (ECAs), and other enrichment opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of our Science & Mathematics Departments.
  • Engage actively in the boarding life of the school.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and enhance your teaching practice.
  • Mentor a small group of learners, overseeing their achievements and well-being.
  • Manage resources within the department, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized working environment at all times.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding all young people.
  • Complete subject-related administration as required and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Follow the school’s assessment and reporting processes and attend parents’ meetings as needed.

Person Specification

  • A good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.
  • A passion for your subject with the ability to inspire others.
  • A willingness to embrace developments and innovations in teaching and learning, including experimenting with new practices.
  • Capability to supervise learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (native proficiency).
  • An alignment with the educational vision of La Garenne International School, including a holistic approach to education, and enthusiasm to contribute to co-curricular and pastoral life.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Proficient in ICT and willing to adopt new technologies.
