Job Purpose

Aiglon College is committed to providing a transformative, holistic education within a supportive framework. We are seeking a Teaching Assistant for our Junior School, focusing primarily on students in Years 7 and 8. Experience in an international school context is significantly advantageous, and the position entails supporting 20-30 hours per week during term time.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support teaching staff in the educational development of pupils, including the provision of specialized skills as needed.
  • Support for students, individually or in groups, particularly those with EAL considerations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with individual pupils and groups.
  • Contribute to Individual Education Plans as required.
  • Support pupils during learning activities and promote their social and emotional development.
  • Contribute to the health and well-being of pupils.
  • Provide assistance to bilingual/multilingual pupils and students with specific needs.
  • Support Gifted and Talented pupils and assist with literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Assist in managing the behavior and safety of pupils.

Support for Teachers

  • Observe and report on pupil performance and contribute to the planning and evaluation of learning activities.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining the classroom environment.
  • Support the management of pupil behavior and maintain records.
  • Supervise the class during brief emergencies and perform routine marking as per school policy.
  • Provide administrative support, including producing worksheets and invigilating examinations.

Support for the School Community

  • Enhance teamwork and develop professional relationships within the school environment.
  • Liaise with parents and review your own professional practices.

Curriculum Support

  • Facilitate the use of information and communication technology in the classroom.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance in all tasks.
  • Engage in appropriate professional development and attend relevant meetings.

Other Tasks and Responsibilities

Understand and implement all school policies, particularly those related to safeguarding children and young people. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Deputy Head of the Junior School to ensure the smooth operation of the team while upholding the ethos of Aiglon College.
