Job Purpose
Lead, safeguard, and enhance Aiglon’s sports and activities provision to ensure that every pupil, staff member, and guest experiences a high-quality and safe programme.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct daily facility walk-throughs, documenting hazards and initiating corrective actions.
- Enforce best practices in child safeguarding and health & safety, fully aligned with Swiss regulations and Aiglon policies.
- Maintain inspection and servicing schedules for all sports equipment; liaise with the Director of Operations for repairs or replacements.
- Manage bookings for the minibus fleet for expeditions and sports departments.
- Ensure minibuses are properly maintained after use.
- Secure the Sports Centre after operational hours, including equipment checks and managing alarms and locks.
Programming & User Experience
- Produce and publish weekly Sports Centre and facilities timetable, balancing various activities.
- Encourage lifelong participation in physical activity through diverse sports and wellbeing initiatives.
- Liaise with the Health Centre, Deputy School Director (Pastoral), and Houseparents regarding students with specific needs.
- Communicate professionally with all users, building trust among pupils and colleagues.
Fitness Suite & Strength-and-Conditioning
- Oversee the cleanliness and daily operations of the Fitness Suite.
- Assist in planning and coaching age-appropriate strength and conditioning sessions.
- Monitor and maintain student progress through various assessments.
- Educate students on safe lifting techniques, nutrition, and injury prevention.
- Foster a culture of respect for equipment and peers, ensuring adherence to hygiene standards.
Activities Coordination
- Design and supervise a successful activities programme across the school.
- Quality assure the activities programme through feedback and observations.
- Provide guidance to staff for effective programme planning and execution.
- Collaborate with the Director of Character and the Head of Junior Activities to align activities with school mission.
- Create and sustain energy within activities and manage daily operations effectively.
- Ensure all students and parents understand the importance of activities as part of school requirements.
- Monitor student involvement and attendance at all activities, addressing absences as necessary.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance the programme to appeal to student interests.
- Showcase student achievements in a range of activities through events such as prize-giving ceremonies.
Administration
- Produce termly participation reports to assess student engagement.
- Contribute to staff professional development through workshops on fitness and safe practices.
Qualifications and Experience
A. Education, Qualifications and Languages
- Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Sport Facilities Management, or related discipline.
- Desirable: Accredited Strength & Conditioning certification (e.g., NSCA‑CSCS, UKSCA, ASCA Level 2) and valid First Aid & CPR qualification; working proficiency in French.
B. Experience and Knowledge
- Desirable: Minimum of 5 years managing multi-sport facilities, including staff supervision.
- Proven record in coaching strength and conditioning programmes for student athletes and teams.
- Experience in an international school, university, or elite sports academy setting.
