Job Purpose
Lead, safeguard, and develop Aiglon’s indoor sports provision to ensure that every pupil, staff member, and guest enjoys an inclusive, high-quality, and safe physical activity program.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Conduct daily facility walk-throughs, logging hazards and initiating corrective action, including repairing equipment where possible.
- Enforce best practices in child safeguarding and health & safety, fully aligned with Swiss regulations and Aiglon policies.
- Maintain inspection and servicing schedules for all sports equipment; liaise with the Director of Operations for repairs or replacements.
- Assist in managing the bookings of the minibus fleet for expeditions and sports departments.
- Ensure that the minibuses are returned in good order after use.
- Secure the Sports Centre at the end of the day or during open hours, conducting equipment checks, lights, alarms, and locks.
Programming & User Experience
- Produce and publish the weekly Sports Centre and facilities timetable, balancing curriculum lessons, house practices, team training, and community bookings.
- Encourage a broad, lifelong engagement in physical activity by promoting a variety of sports and wellbeing initiatives.
- Liaise proactively with the Health Centre, Deputy School Director (Pastoral), and Houseparents regarding students with medical or additional needs.
- Communicate clearly and courteously with all users, modeling professional conduct that earns trust from pupils and colleagues.
Fitness Suite & Strength-and-Conditioning
- Oversee the presentation, cleanliness, and day-to-day supervision of the Fitness Suite.
- Assist in planning and coaching age-appropriate Strength and Conditioning sessions.
- Monitor student progress (e.g., movement screens, jump tests, wellness surveys) and maintain records to inform individualized programs.
- Educate students on safe lifting techniques, recovery, nutrition, and injury prevention; coordinate return-to-play plans with medical/physio staff.
- Foster a culture of respect for equipment and peers, ensuring adherence to correct footwear, clothing, and hygiene standards at all times.
Administration
- Produce termly participation reports on student engagement and ensure equipment compliance.
- Contribute to staff CPD by conducting short workshops on fitness, wellbeing, or safe practices.
Other Tasks and Responsibilities
- Be available for School sporting events such as inter-house and inter-school competitions, Sports Day, and other major events.
- Understand and implement all School policies and procedures, particularly those related to safeguarding children and young people.
- Undertake any other tasks reasonably requested by the Director of Character Education to assist in the smooth running of the team.
- Understand the School’s Guiding Principles and uphold the ethos of the School at all times.
