Job Purpose

The Stock Take Assistant supports the School Shop Manager during the bi-annual inventory period. This temporary position focuses on stock counting, organization, data accuracy, and the preparation of the shop for the new academic year. The role requires precision, reliability, discretion, and the ability to work efficiently within a structured process.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

The Stock Take Assistant will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

Physical Stock Count

  • Accurately count all merchandise, including uniforms, branded items, unbranded items, accessories, etc.
  • Follow stock-take procedures as instructed
  • Record quantities clearly and correctly
  • Double-check discrepancies when required

Inventory Control & Organisation

  • Reorganize shelves and storage areas during counting
  • Ensure products are correctly labeled and sized
  • Identify damaged, missing, or obsolete items

Data Entry & Accuracy

  • Input stock data into the inventory system
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail
  • Report any inconsistencies immediately to the School Shop Manager

Shop Preparation

  • Assist in preparing the shop for back-to-school opening
  • Organize uniforms by size and house
  • Support restocking and merchandising as needed

Working Conditions

This is a temporary assignment involving physical work, including lifting boxes and standing for extended periods. You will collaborate with the School Shop Manager and other assistants in a busy and fast-paced environment.

Other Tasks and Responsibilities

In addition to the core responsibilities, the Stock Take Assistant may be required to undertake other tasks as needed to ensure the smooth running of the School Shop. It is essential to understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to the safeguarding of children and young people. The successful candidate will uphold the School's Guiding Principles and maintain its ethos at all times.
