Job Purpose

The Stock Take Assistant supports the School Shop Manager during the biannual inventory period. This temporary position focuses on stock counting, organization, data accuracy, and preparing the shop for the new academic year. The role requires precision, reliability, discretion, and the ability to work efficiently within a structured process.

General Requirements

An ideal candidate will:

  • Be methodical and organized.
  • Be comfortable working with numbers.
  • Able to work independently after receiving instructions.
  • Respect confidentiality regarding pricing, margins, and internal processes.
  • Possess basic IT skills.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

Physical Stock Count

  • Count all merchandise accurately (uniforms, branded items, unbranded items, accessories, etc.).
  • Follow stock-take procedures as instructed.
  • Record quantities clearly and accurately.
  • Double-check discrepancies when required.

Inventory Control & Organisation

  • Reorganize shelves and storage areas during counting.
  • Ensure products are correctly labeled and sized.
  • Identify damaged, missing, or obsolete items.

Data Entry & Accuracy

  • Input stock data into the inventory system.
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Report any inconsistencies immediately to the School Shop Manager.

Shop Preparation

  • Assist in preparing the shop for the back-to-school opening.
  • Organize uniforms by size and house.
  • Support restocking and merchandising as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Temporary assignment.
  • Physical work (lifting boxes, standing for extended periods).
  • Teamwork with the School Shop Manager and assistants.
  • Fast-paced and busy environment.

Other Tasks and Responsibilities

Undertake any other tasks reasonably required by the School Shop Manager to ensure the smooth running of the School Shop. Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding children and young people. Uphold the ethos of the School at all times and embody its guiding principles.
