Job Title: Patient Services Governance Lead

The Patient Services Governance Lead provides enterprise-level governance leadership for Patient Services and related patient support activities throughout the patient journey. This role focuses on Patient Support Programs (PSPs) and other structured services that assist with diagnostic testing, access and reimbursement, treatment start and administration, home care or treatment logistics, adherence, monitoring, and ongoing disease or wellbeing support. Additionally, it may offer governance input for patient education and awareness activities requiring dedicated Patient Services review.

Key Responsibilities

Operating within the Medical Governance Office, this position will:

  • Establish and maintain clear standards, decision criteria, review pathways, documentation expectations, and oversight requirements for Patient Services activities.
  • Help teams determine the appropriate governance approach for PSPs and other patient-facing support services, ensuring pertinent Medical, Ethics & Compliance, Pharmacovigilance, Quality, Regulatory, Privacy, Legal, Digital/DD&T, Access, Procurement, and Vendor Management reviews are integrated effectively.
  • Balance compliance rigor with practical execution, enabling responsible innovation through user-friendly tools, templates, clear accountabilities, and consistent workflows across markets.
  • Collaborate closely with the Strategic Portfolio Division (SPD), Marketing and Commercial Excellence (MCE), and local market organizations to translate enterprise governance standards into compliant local execution aligned with patient journey needs, healthcare system realities, and country-specific regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a key partner to Digital/DD&T and Patient Solutions stakeholders by ensuring that digital patient services, technology-enabled support programs, patient-facing platforms, and emerging AI-enabled solutions are governed through suitable risk-based oversight, data governance, privacy, security, quality, and compliance frameworks.
  • Define governance standards for increasingly integrated digital and non-digital patient support ecosystems.

Your Contribution

  • Establish, maintain, and evolve enterprise governance standards for Patient Services ensuring consistent quality, transparency, accountability, appropriate oversight, and compliance across markets.
  • Define practical decision criteria and review tools to guide teams in determining the governance pathway for various patient support activities.
  • Partner with SPD, MCE, LOC Patient Services leaders, and country organizations to develop governance frameworks that enable compliant local implementation of patient support solutions.
  • Articulate lifecycle governance expectations for Patient Services, ensuring clear documentation and accountability at each stage.
  • Translate governance expectations into usable operating materials, including intake questions, checklists, templates, and training resources.
  • Facilitate consistent governance review by coordinating required functional input, ensuring decisions adequately reflect both enterprise risk considerations and local execution realities.
  • Assess new, changing, or scaled Patient Services and related activities to determine appropriate governance pathways, documentation expectations, and oversight needs.
  • Monitor emerging patient support models, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for harmonization and scalable governance approaches.
  • Define expectations for third-party governance in Patient Services, while ensuring local program owners remain accountable for vendor execution.
  • Provide governance advisory support for new or scaled patient support models.
  • Ensure audit readiness and facilitate governance reviews, risk assessments, and follow-up actions.
  • Drive responsible innovation by incorporating reusable tools and digital solutions that enhance transparency, efficiency, and governance effectiveness.
  • Represent the Medical Governance Office in cross-functional governance discussions, ensuring enterprise expectations are understood and integrated.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in life sciences, pharmacy, healthcare management, or related discipline preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, Patient Services, governance, Medical Operations, Compliance, or related functions within the biopharma or healthcare sectors.
  • Strong understanding of PSPs, patient journey needs, and vendor-enabled healthcare services.
  • Proven experience in developing governance frameworks, standards, and risk assessments.
  • Familiarity with working across diverse countries and regulatory environments preferred.

Competencies

  • Ability to translate complex governance expectations into simple, practical tools and guidance for local implementation.
  • Strong understanding of digital health ecosystems and privacy requirements.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
