Your Crew
You will be part of Beyond Gravity's Spacecraft Mechatronics System Engineering team, consisting of 10 engineers, as well as our broader Zurich-based engineering department with its skilled design engineers, analysts, electrical engineers, test engineers, and materials and process engineers. We are a multidisciplinary, intercultural, energetic, and goal-oriented team, working every day to deliver the most competitive spacecraft products for the European and global space markets, while also contributing to significant space exploration technologies for major ESA and NASA missions. Your Mission
- Be the technical responsible for one of our mechatronic spacecraft systems, ranging from recurring products for large satellite constellations (such as solar array drives, antenna pointing mechanisms, or dampers) to new developments for state-of-the-art space exploration.
- Lead a technical project team of highly skilled experts in analysis, testing, electrical engineering, design, and materials and processes.
- Collaborate with the project team to assess customer needs, generate innovative ideas, optimize solutions, and solve problems—all aimed at delivering quality, on time and within cost. This includes:
- Preparing component specifications and collaborating with our suppliers.
- Coordinating design and analysis activities while also conducting engineering work yourself.
- Supporting production and test activities, as well as evaluating test results.
- Establishing and reviewing complex technical documentation and data packs.
- Supporting and negotiating with customers in regular technical meetings and reviews.
Your Story
- You hold a MSc or an equivalent degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
- You have at least 3 years of relevant experience in mechatronics engineering for demanding applications such as aerospace, vacuum technology, scientific instruments, and MedTech.
- You possess a generalist mindset, comfortable working with equations and collaborating with team members.
- You demonstrate a hands-on mentality, having successfully turned designs into hardware and mastered production and testing challenges along the way.
- You have an operational drive and a proven ability to deliver efficiently in industrial operations, with a strong focus on cost, schedule, quality, and regulated processes and standards.
- You can work under temporary phases of high schedule pressure while fostering a productive and enjoyable work atmosphere.
- In-depth knowledge of spacecraft components (especially motors, gears, bearings) and relevant standards, as well as System Engineering Methods, data analysis, and environmental testing, is an asset.
- Our working language is English; knowledge of German is a plus.
