HW Integration Engineer (m/f/d) – Mechatronic Troubleshooting / MedTech / Automation / English / German
Project:
For our esteemed client, Roche Diagnostics International AG, located in Rotkreuz, we are seeking a qualified HW Integration Engineer (m/f/d).
Background:
Within our HW Integration team, we are the cornerstone of confidence. We don’t just test; we ensure that complex interactions between electronics, mechanics, firmware, and software culminate in a seamless and reliable diagnostic product.
As a HW Integration Engineer, you will operate at the critical intersection of hardware and software. Your focus will be deeply mechatronic, actively checking and parameterizing physical hardware, directly interacting with firmware, and systematically bridging the gap between disciplines within R&D and other teams from production and customer support. You will join a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment of experts, serving as the primary point of contact for complex mechatronic issue analysis—helping us uncover weaknesses early and integrating diagnostic 'hooks' directly into our design.
The Perfect Candidate:
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field. They possess five years of hands-on experience in hardware/software integration, system-level testing, or mechatronic troubleshooting. A strong understanding of mechatronics, including the physical interplay between mechanics and electronics, is essential, alongside experience in scripting or programming for test automation and proficiency in a Linux environment. While not mandatory, experience in a regulated industry such as MedTech, Diagnostics, IVD, or GxP is highly desirable.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Driving System Integration & Integrity: Act as a guardian of system quality, leading the physical and logical integration of hardware and software modules into a cohesive, high-performing whole.
- Hardware Parametrization & Firmware Interaction: Define critical parameters, configure and program test software, and parameterize firmware and software to optimize performance and ensure smooth and reliable operation over its lifetime.
- Proactive Robustness & Endurance Testing: Design and arrange advanced electromechanical test setups, long-term endurance trials, and lifetime reliability tests to explore the system's limits under real-world conditions.
- Transforming Data into Insight: Continuously supervise parameters, track hardware counters, and analyze complex data logs to turn raw observations into actionable improvements.
- Collaborative Troubleshooting & Root-Cause Analysis: Own the journey of mechatronic issues from first discovery to resolution, collaborating across teams to perform deep-dive troubleshooting.
- Bridge-Building across R&D and Operations: Serve as a key technical partner, ensuring smooth transfer of robust, validated mechatronic designs to global manufacturing and service partners.
Must Haves:
- A BSc/MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in HW/SW integration, unit- and system-level testing, or mechatronic troubleshooting.
- Experience in a regulated environment (such as MedTech, Diagnostics, IVD, or GxP) is a strong advantage.
- Technical Toolkit:
- A deep understanding of mechatronics and its interaction with firmware and software.
- Experience in scripting or programming for test execution and automation.
- Comfort and experience working in a Linux environment.
- Mindset: A curious investigator who loves to figure out how complex systems work under the hood, with a strong interest in emerging technologies and eagerness to explore AI-assisted tools for hardware testing.
- Fluency in English is required; German is a great advantage for local collaboration.
