Position: Head of Sales Retail

The Head of Sales Retail is a senior member of the BU Retail leadership team, entrusted with the significant responsibility of advancing and delivering on the overall culture and performance of the Business Unit (BU). The successful candidate will lead a large sales team to achieve exceptional performance and engagement, while also being accountable for delivering over $300 million in retail sales.

Major Accountabilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Sales Strategy and Operations

  • Lead the development and implementation of a holistic sales strategy.
  • Consistently monitor and optimize target group definitions, operational priorities, and customer engagement focus.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, regulatory changes, market openings, partnerships, and dynamics to adjust the business plan as necessary.
  • Oversee the sales strategy and ensure seamless implementation.
  • Manage field force performance, resource allocation, effectiveness, and compliance with relevant KPIs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Key Account Management (KAM) and Warehouse Sales (WHS) to ensure alignment with key account initiatives.
  • Ensure targeted execution of the marketing plan.

Deliver Financial Targets and Maximize Growth

  • Meet or exceed sales targets, including market share growth, within agreed timelines.
  • Set and embrace ambitious goals, ensuring their successful delivery.
  • Identify growth opportunities, prepare business cases, and implement agreed-upon strategies.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Nurture a positive, high-performing, results-driven team.
  • Provide coaching and support to team members.
  • Manage recruitment, performance, development, and retention of team members.
  • Mentor team members, fostering an environment of continuous growth and learning.
  • Excel as a senior member of the BU Retail leadership team and foster effective peer-to-peer leadership relationships.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of BU Retail's strategy, priorities, and culture.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A university degree in Business, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years' experience across various functions such as sales, marketing, commercial excellence, or medical.
  • A proven ability to engage, inspire, and manage diverse teams.
  • Robust commercial acumen within pharmaceutical sales and marketing.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a solid understanding of financial planning and forecasting.
  • Effective communication skills across different audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with experience building an inclusive and diverse work environment.
  • A strong sense of motivation, resilience, optimism, and openness to change.
  • A hands-on management style capable of navigating complex relationships.
  • The highest standard of personal ethics and integrity.
  • Fluency in French, German, and English (written and spoken).

Location and Working Arrangements

  • Field-based role.
  • Travel required on average 40% of the time.
