Position: Head of Sales Retail

The Head of Sales Retail is a vital member of the BU Retail leadership team, playing a key role in advancing and enhancing the overall culture and performance of the business unit. The successful candidate will lead a large sales team towards exceptional performance and engagement, aiming to deliver over $300 million in retail sales.

Major Accountabilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Sales Strategy and Operations

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive sales strategy.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize target group definitions, operational priorities, and customer engagement focus.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, market opportunities, partnerships, and dynamics to adapt the business plan as necessary.
  • Ensure smooth implementation of the sales strategy and manage performance metrics.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of KAM and WHS to integrate key account initiatives.
  • Oversee targeted execution of the marketing plan.

Deliver Financial Targets and Maximize Growth

  • Achieve or exceed sales targets, including market share growth, within established timelines.
  • Establish ambitious goals and ensure their achievement.
  • Identify growth opportunities, prepare business cases, and implement agreed strategies.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Cultivate a positive, high-performing, and results-driven team.
  • Provide coaching and support to team members.
  • Manage recruitment, performance, development, and retention of team members.
  • Mentor team members and promote a culture of continuous growth and learning.
  • Act as a senior member of the BU retail leadership team and foster relationships at the management level.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the BU Retail strategy and culture.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • A university degree in Business, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience across various functions (e.g., sales, marketing, commercial excellence).
  • Proven ability to engage and inspire diverse teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen within pharmaceutical sales and marketing.
  • Highly analytical, with a solid understanding of financial planning and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication skills suitable for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, fostering an inclusive and diverse working environment.
  • Motivation, resilience, optimism, and openness to change.
  • A hands-on management style with the ability to navigate complex relationships.
  • Strong ethical standards and integrity.
  • Fluent in French, German, and English (written and spoken).

Location and Working Arrangements

  • Field-based role.
  • Travel required, averaging 40% of the time.
