JT International SA Geneva August 28, 2026

As one of the fastest growing international industry players over the last decade, we market world-renowned brands such as Winston, Camel, Mevius, LD, Logic, and Ploom.

Position Objectives

Unlike most scientists who inherit an evidence base, you will have the unique opportunity to build one. As the Fundamental Experience Science Manager, you will be responsible for establishing the scientific foundations for the Experience Lab and the broader Proposition Science function. This role involves:

  • Identifying which questions matter.
  • Determining what the evidence truly indicates.
  • Defining what still needs to be measured and how.
  • Transforming fragmented literature, expert knowledge, exploratory research, and internal learning into clear conclusions, testable hypotheses, validated measurement approaches, and reusable standards.
  • Addressing gaps in evidence where necessary and guiding the design of relevant studies.

You will work across scientific disciplines relevant to each inquiry rather than defaulting to a single discipline, creating a foundation upon which future projects can build. In this role, you will serve as an expert individual contributor in a small, newly formed team, influencing and executing much of the research in collaboration with external experts, research partners, and academic collaborators.

Responsibilities

  • Scientific Question Framing and Prioritisation: Collaborate with the Experience Science Director, Applied Experience Science colleagues, and cross-functional partners to define and prioritize scientific questions critical to product, brand, innovation, marketing, and consumer journey development.
  • Evidence Synthesis and Scientific Judgement: Review and integrate scientific literature, expert knowledge, internal insights, and external evidence to establish current knowledge, uncertainties, and contextual applicability.
  • Study Design and Measurement Development: Design, commission, and oversee studies—primarily EXECUTED with external experts and academic collaborators—while developing measurement protocols to define constructs, instruments, study conditions, quality thresholds, and interpretation rules.
  • Reusable Scientific Assets: Create and maintain evidence maps, conceptual models, validated measures, study standards, and decision criteria that enrich projects across teams and markets.
  • Scientific Guidance and Future Agenda: Provide guidance on applied experience science projects, translating recurring questions and evidence gaps into a prioritized research agenda for Experience Science.

Qualifications

  • Storytelling: Strong commercial acumen to translate business questions into actionable recommendations and implications.
  • Professional Experience: Over 7 years in scientific research, applied research, evidence synthesis, measurement development, or experimental design related to human behavior or experience.
  • A proven ability to convert scientific literature and expert insights into actionable conclusions, hypotheses, study designs, and practical implications.
  • Experience designing, commissioning, and managing studies, including the ability to identify and rectify weak measures or study approaches.
  • Experience in managing external experts or research partners and communicating scientific judgments to R&D, innovation, insights, marketing, or commercial stakeholders, preferably in a regulated environment.

Degrees and Training

A BSc in a relevant field such as psychology, behavioral science, cognitive science, neuroscience, sensory or perceptual science, human factors, consumer science, or decision science. An advanced degree involving empirical research, literature synthesis, measurement development, or evidence evaluation is preferred.

Language and Computer Skills

Excellent English language skills are required.

Behavioral Competencies

You are a scientific systems builder—intellectually rigorous but never academic for its own sake. You have not just contributed to an evidence base; you have strengthened it. Holding strong yet adaptable convictions, you can form a clear position based on evidence and adjust it as new insights emerge. Comfortable across various disciplines, you are credible with experts and adept at organizing knowledge into models, measures, and standards suitable for non-specialists. You highlight uncertainty without rendering recommendations ineffective.

Above all, you meld scientific depth with pragmatism and follow-through. Your focus is not on science for its own sake; from the inception of a research question, you remain mindful of its potential applications and the outcomes it could enhance.
