Job Overview
As an IP Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s intellectual property (IP) strategy. Your responsibilities will include invention mining, assisting in patent drafting, conducting prior art searches, and managing the IP portfolio. You will collaborate closely with R&D teams, legal counsel, and external patent attorneys to ensure that our innovations are effectively protected and aligned with our business objectives.
This position reports to the General Counsel and is based in Baden, Switzerland.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with R&D teams to identify patentable inventions and facilitate invention disclosures.
- Conduct prior art searches and provide analyses on patentability and freedom-to-operate.
- Assist in internal and external patent drafting and prosecution processes.
- Maintain IP databases and generate regular reports on portfolio status.
- Monitor competitor patents and industry IP trends.
- Support IP litigation, licensing, and enforcement activities when necessary.
- Provide training to engineers on IP awareness and best practices.
- Support R&D teams located in the U.S. and China.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Familiarity with patent systems in major jurisdictions (e.g., US, EP, CN).
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Experience with patent search tools.
- Patent Agent qualification or IP certification is a plus.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin.
