Job Description

As an Application Engineer, you will be responsible for the process-related commissioning of our advanced thin-film coating systems. This role includes performing internal and external acceptances, training customers and service teams, and supporting process optimization. Your ideas and expertise will contribute to the ongoing development of our technologies.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Monitoring vacuum systems: Ensure that our coating systems run reliably and produce the required thin films.
  • Commissioning production systems: Manage the systems after the hardware check and bring them into operation from a process perspective—from initial settings to final optimization.
  • Performing system acceptances: Document internal tests (IAT) and accompany the final customer acceptance (FAT), usually directly on-site at our customers' facilities.
  • Advising customers and colleagues: Share your knowledge, train the service team, and support customers with technical questions.
  • Further developing systems: Test new components, contribute ideas, and actively support documentation and process optimization.

What You Should Bring

  • Technical know-how: An education (University of Applied Sciences or equivalent) in physics, materials science, microtechnology, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • Experience or willingness to learn: Knowledge in vacuum technology and thin-film processes is beneficial, or you are motivated to learn PVD processes such as sputtering and evaporation.
  • Hands-on mentality: Enjoy working practically, tinkering, adjusting, and finding creative solutions.
  • Communication & travel: Enjoy interacting with customers, possess good English language skills, and be willing to travel occasionally (approximately 15%).
  • Technical skills: Passion for tinkering, assembling, and fine-tuning—technology is in your DNA.
