Job Opportunity: Teacher of Visual Arts

We are seeking a passionate Teacher of Visual Arts to join our vibrant community at an exceptional all-through 4-18 international boarding school set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Swiss Alps. Main Duties

  • Teach across the full age and ability spectrum, tailoring lessons to meet the diverse needs of individual students.
  • Enhance the broader school experience by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities (ECAs), and other enrichment initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues within the Creative Arts & Design Department.
  • Engage in the dynamic life of the boarding community.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and self-improvement.
  • Mentor a small group of learners, overseeing their academic progress and well-being.
  • Manage departmental resources effectively, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized working space.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding all young people.
  • Handle subject-related administration tasks and actively participate in departmental meetings.
  • Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting protocols, and attend parents' meetings as required.

Person Specification

  • Possess a good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Exhibit a passion for the subject that inspires and motivates students.
  • Welcome innovations in teaching and learning, and be willing to explore new practices.
  • Be prepared to supervise learners in their MYP Personal Projects or DP Extended Essays.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English as a mother tongue.
  • Align with the educational vision of La Garenne International School, advocating for a holistic approach to education and contributing to co-curricular and pastoral life.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate effectively with colleagues and school leadership.
