Position Announcement: Technicians at the University of Bern
The University of Bern, within the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, is excited to announce a position opening beginning April 1st, 2026, for a duration of five years, with the possibility of extension. This role is part of the solid-state analysis unit led by PD Dr. Simon Grabowsky, and is offered as an 80% position with a salary commensurate with the rank of a technician.
Your Tasks
The main responsibilities for this position include:
- Conducting measurements using a scanning electron microscope for surface imaging.
- Utilizing energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy for elemental analysis.
- Maintaining the electron microscope and engaging with both internal and external clients.
- Performing powder X-ray diffraction measurements, alongside some thermoanalysis and other general departmental services.
Your Profile
We are looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:
- You have completed a technician apprenticeship or possess an equivalent qualification.
- You have previous experience handling an electron microscope.
- Experience with powder X-ray diffraction is beneficial.
- You are fluent in English and possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- You are proficient in utilizing computer software.
