PhD Candidate Opportunity: Investigating Environmental Mechanisms in Allergy
We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join an SNSF-funded research project focusing on the environmental-driven mechanisms that offer protection against allergic diseases. This project is part of the PASTURE birth cohort, one of Europe's foremost longitudinal studies on the environmental determinants of allergy.
The research utilizes unique clinical data and biological samples collected from birth to adolescence to explore how environmental exposures influence immune development, offering protection against conditions such as asthma and allergic rhinitis. Our approach integrates epidemiology with cutting-edge omics technologies, including:
- Transcriptomics
- Proteomics
- Metabolomics
- Immunophenotyping
- Single-cell analyses
What You Can Expect
- Perform laboratory analyses using modern multi-omics technologies with a large volume of samples.
- Analyze longitudinal clinical and molecular datasets.
- Apply statistical and bioinformatic methods.
- Publish your research in international journals.

- Collaborate within an interdisciplinary and international research team.
Your Profile
- Master's degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in immunology, allergy, or epidemiological research.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient written and spoken English.
- Experience with molecular biology, bioinformatics, or programming (R/Python) is advantageous but not mandatory.
