About Us

The Space Research and Planetology Division at the University of Bern is dedicated to researching the formation and evolution of our solar system. We develop and build highly specialized instruments for spacecraft, which carry out in situ measurements in locations such as the vicinity of Jupiter. Our team is internationally recognized for its achievements and collaborates in numerous space missions with prestigious organizations, including the European Space Agency (ESA) and NASA.

In addition to our space-related activities, our Division actively participates in flagship projects for ground-based astronomy, such as the European 39-m Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). Recently, we were awarded funding to develop an adaptive optics (AO) system for the 80-cm telescope of the Zimmerwald Observatory, in collaboration with the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern (AIUB) and EPFL. To meet these exciting challenges, we are seeking an experienced Automation Technician (Automatiker) HF/FH.
