Your Responsibilities

This position combines infrastructure development (~40%) with user-oriented IT support (~10%) in a heterogeneous scientific environment. The initial fixed-term contract comes with the possibility of extension and an increased workload.

IT Infrastructure & Systems (Primary Focus)

  • Maintain, develop, and improve workstations, servers, and scientific instrument computers (Windows, macOS, Linux).
  • Support and further develop network connectivity in coordination with the central IT services of the University.
  • Manage and support virtualization and container-based environments.
  • Ensure and contribute to system reliability (backup, updates, monitoring).

Support & Operations (Limited Scope)

  • Provide user-oriented IT support (analysis, prioritization, and resolution of issues).
  • Act as a local interface to central IT services (1st and 2nd level support).

Coordination & Projects

  • Contribute to IT security, asset management (GLPI), and system documentation.
  • Support web and digital services (updates, access, and content workflows).
  • Assist with procurement and lifecycle management of hardware and software.
  • Collaborate closely with researchers, lab managers, and administration.

Your Profile

  • Training in IT/computer science or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
  • Solid understanding of networking, virtualization, and container technologies.
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex IT infrastructures (hardware and software).
  • Structured, service-oriented, and proactive working style.
  • Strong communication skills in German and English.
  • Experience in a scientific or academic environment is an asset.
