Your Responsibilities
This position combines infrastructure development (~40%) with user-oriented IT support (~10%) in a heterogeneous scientific environment. The initial fixed-term contract comes with the possibility of extension and an increased workload.
IT Infrastructure & Systems (Primary Focus)
- Maintain, develop, and improve workstations, servers, and scientific instrument computers (Windows, macOS, Linux).
- Support and further develop network connectivity in coordination with the central IT services of the University.
- Manage and support virtualization and container-based environments.
- Ensure and contribute to system reliability (backup, updates, monitoring).
Support & Operations (Limited Scope)
- Provide user-oriented IT support (analysis, prioritization, and resolution of issues).
- Act as a local interface to central IT services (1st and 2nd level support).
Coordination & Projects
- Contribute to IT security, asset management (GLPI), and system documentation.
- Support web and digital services (updates, access, and content workflows).
- Assist with procurement and lifecycle management of hardware and software.
- Collaborate closely with researchers, lab managers, and administration.
Your Profile
- Training in IT/computer science or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
- Solid understanding of networking, virtualization, and container technologies.
- Experience in troubleshooting complex IT infrastructures (hardware and software).
- Structured, service-oriented, and proactive working style.
- Strong communication skills in German and English.
- Experience in a scientific or academic environment is an asset.
