Job opportunity
Location: Zurich, 10%-30%, fixed-term
At the Energy and Process Systems Engineering (EPSE) group, we are at the forefront of developing automated experimental setups for measuring vapor-liquid equilibria (VLE), liquid-liquid equilibria (LLE), and diffusion coefficients—essential data for the design and optimization of chemical processes. Given that conventional experiments can be resource-intensive and time-consuming, particularly with multicomponent mixtures, our group is innovating miniaturized systems that employ in-situ Raman spectroscopy to swiftly determine phase compositions in small sample volumes.
This exciting project aims to further advance our automated platforms for measuring thermophysical properties. We are integrating sample preparation, sample handling, and fully automated execution of equilibrium and transport-property experiments utilizing milli- and microfluidic setups in conjunction with Raman spectroscopy. The data generated are critical for the accelerated development of novel chemical processes, including plastic recycling.
We are seeking an ETH student who is passionate about designing and building experimental setups, conducting experiments, and supporting general lab tasks. The position will start around February 2026. Typical responsibilities include:
