Specialized Micromobility Fleet Operations & Diagnostics Technician / Specialized Micromobility Fleet Operations & Diagnostics Technicianess

Fun Ride GmbH Zürich December 13, 2025

About Us

FUN RIDE GmbH operates the Hopp E-Scooter sharing service across Switzerland. We manage a live fleet of connected, smart e-scooters providing sustainable mobility solutions. Our operations combine advanced IoT, field diagnostics, and real-time fleet optimization.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Specialized Micromobility Fleet Operations & Diagnostics Technician who possesses a unique blend of field operations expertise. This role is crucial for creating new hotspots that enhance the usage and coverage of our service, especially during station changes and preventive damage diagnostics. Hands-on mechanical repair experience in a shared-mobility environment is essential.

This hybrid role requires a deep understanding of shared e-scooter fleet behavior, in-field repairs, early damage detection, and manual hotspot creation based on rider flow and environmental patterns. Previous experience specifically within e-scooter sharing operations is a must.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fleet Rebalancing & Hotspot Creation:
    • Perform daily and advanced rebalancing across micro-zones based on demand and heatmaps, local terrain, and weather conditions.
    • Maintain the fleet's battery percentage above 90% and availability above 95% daily.
    • Independently create, optimize, and adjust hotspot zones using field observations and operational patterns.
    • Optimize distribution routes manually, identify and reduce "dead zones" and low-availability areas.
  • Preventive Damage Diagnostics:
    • Detect early-stage mechanical and structural wear.
    • Identify damage progression caused by misuse, vandalism, or environmental factors.
    • Document and evaluate repair-prevention opportunities to minimize downtime.
    • Conduct real-time health checks during field operations.
  • In-Field Mechanical & Electronic Repairs:
    • Conduct mobile repairs on mechanical, electrical, and IoT components without workshop equipment.
    • Diagnose controller, harness, and sensor anomalies on-site.
    • Return units to service with minimal downtime.
  • Training:
    • Train junior team members in micromobility-specific repair and diagnostic processes.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in a shared e-scooter fleet environment.
  • Experience with real-time diagnostics and field-based hotspot creation, understanding factors such as peak hours, weather, and events to avoid blocking pedestrian traffic.
  • Ability to perform in-field mechanical and electronic repairs on shared micromobility vehicles.
  • Ability to diagnose early-stage structural and mechanical failures unique to shared scooter fleets.
  • Knowledge of different e-scooter models and hardware.
  • Experience in maintaining high fleet uptime and availability KPIs.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

Vocational training in a technical field (mechanics, electronics, mechatronics) or equivalent practical experience in shared micromobility operations is required.

Language Requirements

Good English proficiency for internal communication and digital tools is essential.
