Sourcing Manager Pharma

Roche Switzerland bridges the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, housing important research and development functions. We are currently seeking a Sourcing Manager for our long-term client, Roche Diagnostics International AG, located in Rotkreuz.

Background

The Sourcing Manager is integral to the execution of Direct Procurement Operations activities within a specified region, country, or site. This role entails supplier management responsibilities such as negotiating, contracting, and performance management, in alignment with our Category Management team. As a valued member of the Direct Procurement Operations team, the Sourcing Manager will execute various value-added activities, including first-level escalations from business stakeholders, master data management, supplier performance management, and initiatives aimed at driving cost savings and continuous improvement for maximum operational value.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all procurement requests are executed in line with category guidance and comply with relevant policies, standards, guidelines, and operating procedures, including preferred supplier arrangements.
  • Execute procurement requests efficiently, adhering to category guidance and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Business stakeholders to understand and implement effective procurement processes.
  • Utilize appropriate methodologies, tools, and strategies for impactful procurement.
  • Work alongside Category Management teams to address end-user requirements and identify opportunities for aggregation and leverage.
  • Deliver consistent value through continuous improvement methodologies, enhanced operational efficiencies, and optimal supplier performance.
  • Collaborate with legal and contracting functions for contracting activities, including the preparation and review of master agreements and statements of work.
  • Understand end-user requirements through direct and indirect communication.
  • Leverage applicable category guidance documents and procurement knowledge to efficiently meet requests.
  • Support requests while applying continuous improvement methodologies when possible.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, standards, and operating procedures to uphold the organization’s operational rights.
  • Communicate status updates, progress, and outcomes of procurement activities effectively.
  • Assist in the creation and review of pertinent purchasing documentation.
  • Maintain information flow back to the Category Management teams.

Must Haves

  • A university degree in business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of procurement experience, including basic contracting, business enterprise systems, and spot buying.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to translate business requirements into procurement specifications with a customer service focus.
  • Sourcing management experience in a technical field (electronics, mechanics).
  • Proficient in systems and processes for efficient management of contract documentation and templates.
  • Business-level fluency in English.
  • Familiarity with business enterprise tools (e.g., SAP).
  • Experience or demonstrated understanding of cost reduction and value improvement initiatives.
  • Team player.

Nice to Haves

  • A post-graduate business-related qualification.
  • Documented international strategic sourcing or cost reduction experience.
  • Experience in operational excellence or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in Life Sciences.
  • Professional purchasing (e.g., CIPS, ISM) or finance-related certifications.
  • Experience with enterprise systems, procure-to-pay tools, and eSourcing tools.
  • Competence or fluency in German is strongly encouraged.
  • A business-related degree is preferable.
  • Proficiency in German at least at the B2 level.
