Scientist Lab Technician Assay Development

Background

The Assay Development team is responsible for creating molecular diagnostic and screening tests based on PCR technology in areas such as infectious diseases, genomics, and oncology, from early feasibility to commercial launch. Key responsibilities of the team include:

  • Initial prototyping and optimization of assay design to meet product requirements and ensure manufacturability.
  • Development of test methods and acceptance criteria.
  • Transfer of reagent manufacturing instructions, test methods, and workflows to Operations.
  • Design and execution of verification and validation activities, including guard-band studies, stability studies, and technical performance verification studies.
  • Documentation of analytical performance for product labeling and regulatory submission packages.

Throughout the product development phases, Assay Development interfaces with various departments including Research, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Business to create and realize what patients need next.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Work in a high-throughput lab environment.
  • Conduct routine lab work with infectious samples while leading experiments and analyzing results.
  • Plan and execute various work packages for the development of molecular diagnostics tests.
  • Participate in project meetings and present experimental data.
  • Document experiments precisely using electronic lab journals according to GMP standards.
  • Handle and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Perform statistical data analysis using various software and tools (e.g., JMP).
  • Draft official documents (e.g., Design History Files).

Must Haves

  • Graduate as a Biomedical Analyst Scientist (BMA HF) or an apprenticeship as a Lab Technician (Biology, Medical Diagnostics, Chemistry), or at least a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences with practical lab experience (no PhD graduates).
  • Ideally 2+ years of lab experience with data analysis and biostatistics.
  • Excellent and thorough documentation skills.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken; German language skills are a plus.
  • An open-minded team player with a proactive mindset and organized working style.
  • Flexible, strategic-thinking, and self-directed.

Nice to Haves

  • Lab experience in a biotechnical environment, particularly with infectious sample handling at Biosafety Level 2.
  • Experience in a GMP/GLP environment.
