Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent, international medical humanitarian organization dedicated to providing care to those in need, including individuals affected by natural or man-made disasters and victims of armed conflict. MSF's operational framework comprises five centers supported by 24 sections and offices worldwide. MSF Operational Center Geneva (MSF OCG) is one such center. The mission is to develop and implement MSF Switzerland's organic social media strategy for French-speaking audiences, enhancing audience engagement and supporting broader digital supporter journeys. Our social media channels aim to raise awareness, foster engagement, advocate, and acquire supporters through relevant content, community engagement, and platform-specific practices.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the organic social media approach: Create and execute the organic social media strategy for French-speaking audiences, ensuring channel priorities, editorial choices, and audience engagement align with MSF Switzerland's digital objectives.
  • Develop and maintain social media standards and playbooks: Continuously improve platform-specific playbooks, editorial standards, and community engagement practices for consistency and quality across social media channels.
  • Lead social media editorial planning and content adaptation: Oversee the planning and refinement of social media content, ensuring that messages are relevant, accessible, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Monitor and optimize social media performance: Collaborate with the digital analyst to analyze performance data, audience insights, and engagement trends to refine social media approaches.
  • Manage and strengthen online communities: Enhance community engagement across priority social media channels, fostering meaningful interactions and motivating audiences to participate in their broader digital engagement journey.
  • Coordinate digital initiatives: Lead and support digital projects, campaigns, and activations, aligned with overarching digital communication goals.
  • Contribute to digital innovation and knowledge sharing: Identify emerging trends and best practices in digital engagement, translating insights into actionable recommendations for the organization.
  • Supervise and support the Digital Engagement Unit intern: Mentor and develop the French-speaking Digital Engagement Unit intern, ensuring quality work and skill enhancement.

Your Profile

Education

Bachelor's degree in digital communication, digital marketing, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in digital communication focusing on social media management.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement organic social media strategies and editorial planning.
  • Experience in engaging online audiences and supporting digital engagement strategies.
  • History of contributing to cross-functional projects and campaigns.
  • Experience in supervising junior contributors is an asset.

Languages

  • French: fluency.
  • English: C1.
  • German: B1 is an asset.

Skills & Technical Competencies

  • Knowledge of organic social media management, particularly on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Understanding of audience engagement, content performance, and social media analytics.
  • Awareness of platform trends, content formats, and community management practices.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian communication principles and sensitive operational contexts.
  • Ability to make editorial judgments and adapt content effectively.
  • Strong audience engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent planning and project coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Adaptability in changing environments.

Terms of Employment

  • Full-time position (100%, 40 hours/week)
  • Open-ended contract
  • Work location: Geneva
  • Ideal start date: October 2026
  • Gross annual salary (for 100%): CHF 87,372 - CHF 100,608 (commensurate with experience)
  • Paid vacation: 25 days per year, pro-rated, plus Swiss public holidays within the contract period.
  • Pension plan: 3/4 of contributions covered by MSF, 1/4 by the staff member.
  • Relocation support available for eligible candidates.
