Your Role
As a Project Engineer in Power Systems at ABB, you will be part of an engaged international project team, playing a crucial role in providing innovative technical solutions for our clients. The work model for this position is: #LI-Hybrid, contributing to the Process Industries division in Switzerland.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop Power Distribution designs from conceptual to detailed levels for a variety of equipment, including MV switchgears, Low Voltage MCCs, Transformers, Neutral Earthing Resistors, DC Power Supply, Power Factor Correction, and Harmonic Filters. Contribute significantly to design reviews and clarify technical project aspects.
- Prepare and review a range of technical documents such as single line diagrams, load lists, specifications, wiring diagrams, general arrangements, layouts, functional descriptions, Power System Protection Philosophy, digital protection relay logics, and IEC61850 Engineering.
- Collaborate with project team members across various disciplines, including control systems, infrastructure, and drives, to ensure seamless integration within power distribution systems.
- Engage proactively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and equipment suppliers, from procurement through delivery phases to guarantee that equipment aligns with project requirements.
Qualifications
- A master’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering focused on power distribution or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in power systems, serving as a senior project engineer or project lead engineer.
- Solid knowledge of energy distribution concepts, electrical network studies, and experience with MV switchgears and LV MCC projects, including digital protection relays and IEC61850 Engineering.
- A high level of self-motivation and curiosity, with a willingness to learn about new technologies.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a collaborative, solution-focused approach and excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel abroad approximately 25% of the time.
