About the Role

In this role, you will own the Trade Compliance framework for the Local Business Line (LBL). You will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and continuously improving the policies, processes, controls, and governance necessary for ensuring our global business activities are compliant. This includes overseeing all international transactions, project deliveries, imports, exports, and related trade activities in alignment with ABB's Global Trade Program as well as applicable customs, export control, sanctions, and origin regulations. As the LBL's authority on Trade Compliance, you will define and maintain the operational framework, establishing clear processes, responsibilities, controls, and escalation mechanisms, while ensuring effective implementation across relevant functions. You will also be the key point of contact for complex compliance matters and regulatory changes.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop, improve, and implement processes related to LBL’s customs procedures, origin management, sanction lists screening, dual-use classification, and export controls.
• Functionally lead trade compliance resources in the LBL.
• Oversee Trade Compliance, including the implementation and continuous improvement of ABB’s Trade Compliance Program, internal directives, control systems, and local trade reviews.
• Provide expert guidance and training on customs, origin, export control, and sanctions compliance.
• Drive Trade Compliance in day-to-day operations and strategic projects, conducting risk assessments and internal checks.
• Advise on all trade compliance matters for LBL’s complex projects involving multiple countries.

What We Are Looking For

• A degree as a Foreign Trade Specialist/Manager or Export Control/Customs Compliance Officer, with at least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive experience with free trade and preferential origins, along with a solid understanding of trade compliance issues.
• Strong knowledge of Swiss (GKV), EU, and US (EAR) dual-use and sanctions regulations.
• Experience in industries involved in large projects across various countries, with demonstrated leadership qualities.
• Proficiency in SAP and SAP GTS E4H.
• Fluent in English; German is a plus.
