Your Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Analytics Engineering & Data Science to lead a pivotal team supporting our EMEA business. This highly visible role sits at the intersection of data engineering, data science, AI implementation, and analytics, driving the technical direction and operating model for data engineering, modeling, governance, and decision-making across our EMEA markets.
This position requires effective people leadership to build and scale a talented team, along with deep technical expertise across the modern data stack, including the development of large language model (LLM)-enabled products. The ideal candidate will balance prioritization across competing demands from Analytics, Marketing, Digital, Operations, Finance, and Franchise stakeholders throughout all EMEA markets. You will excel in defining a three-year data strategy, mentoring a data scientist through forecasting models, presenting strategies to senior leadership, or designing an AI-enabled pricing intelligence platform.
This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Analytics, Insights, Data, and Digital for EMEA and will follow a five-day in-office work schedule to enhance collaboration. Candidates should be prepared to work onsite five days a week.
Your Roles & Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Strategy
- Build, lead, and mentor a multi-disciplinary team across analytics engineering, product development, data science, data engineering, and data operations in the EMEA region.
- Collaborate effectively with various global data and technology teams in a matrix-style organization.
- Define team strategy, set priorities, and establish working methodologies with a specific focus on growing data talent across the EMEA region.
- Data Strategy & Architecture
- Own the short- and long-term data strategy for EMEA, including data architecture and platform roadmap, and decision-making on vendor/tooling.
- Work with global data teams to optimize the design and reliability of EMEA's data pipelines and warehousing.
- Ensure alignment with global data standards while adapting to local market needs, particularly concerning EU GDPR regulations.
- Data Product & Design
- Develop and manage all key EMEA data products, collaborating with international teams for global production.
- Lead Analytics & Data Science product design and delivery, working with internal teams and external consulting partners.
- AI & Emerging Capability
- Identify opportunities to incorporate AI/LLM capabilities to enhance analytics and data science workflows.
- Prototype and pilot emerging AI/ML capabilities with global AI enablement teams.
- Evaluate tools, platforms, and vendors, providing recommendations on AI-driven data capabilities.
- Data Operations & Governance
- Oversee data quality and documentation across the EMEA data ecosystem.
- Establish scalable prioritization and governance practices.
- Define and maintain data governance standards, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other regional regulations.
Your Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 6-10 years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or data science within the QSR, restaurant, or hospitality industry.
- 3+ years of direct people leadership experience managing technical teams.
- Substantial experience leading cross-functional product teams with a track record of deploying valuable analytics and data products.
- Strong expertise in SQL and cloud data warehousing; experience with Snowflake and AWS is required.
- Experience with AI/LLM enablement or GenAI tooling application in data and analytics workstreams.
- Data visualization skills (Tableau, Power BI, or similar) with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear recommendations.
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Dagster) and modern data stack tooling (e.g., dbt, Terraform).
- Programming skills in Python and/or R, with experience applying statistical or machine learning techniques.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to engage a variety of stakeholders across markets and functions.
- Experience operating across multiple countries or markets with awareness of data privacy regulations (GDPR) and cross-border considerations.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Snowflake SnowPro, AWS Certifications) are a plus.
- Fluency in English is required.
