Your Profile

At Beau Soleil, student wellbeing lies at the core of our pastoral care. We are seeking an experienced School Counsellor to provide short-term support to our international boarding school community.

You will deliver confidential and professional support to students facing emotional, social, behavioral, or adjustment difficulties—helping them navigate the complexities of adolescence and life away from home.

Collaboration with our pastoral, boarding, safeguarding, and academic teams will be vital to ensure our students receive appropriate and timely support in a safe, caring environment. We are looking for someone who can quickly build trusting relationships with young people and who adopts a calm, empathetic, and professional approach to sensitive situations.

This is an 80% position, starting as soon as possible and initially running until the end of November 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential individual counseling and wellbeing support to students.
  • Assess students’ needs and develop appropriate short-term support strategies.
  • Support students experiencing emotional, social, relational, or adjustment difficulties.
  • Work closely with pastoral, boarding, and academic teams to promote student wellbeing.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and child protection procedures, in collaboration with the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Liaise appropriately with parents and external professionals as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential counseling records.
  • Provide support in urgent or sensitive student wellbeing situations.

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Professional training in counseling or psychotherapy.
  • Recognized professional accreditation, or eligibility for accreditation, is an advantage.
  • Fluent English is essential; proficiency in French is an advantage.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience working with children or adolescents.
  • Experience in an international or boarding school environment is an advantage.
  • Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Warm, empathetic, and capable of building trust with adolescents.
  • Calm and professional in handling sensitive or challenging situations.
  • High level of discretion and professional ethics.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Culturally sensitive and comfortable in an international environment.
  • Able to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
