Logistics Specialist (Global Clinical Distribution)
Roche Switzerland bridges the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, with significant research and development functions located here. For our long-term client, F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG in Kaiseraugst, we are seeking a qualified Logistics Specialist for the Global Clinical Distribution team.
Background
The Clinical Distribution organization's objective is to cost-effectively ensure that the right product is always in the right place at the right time, guaranteeing that no patient goes without treatment and no clinical trial is delayed. The Logistics Specialist plays a vital role in the Network & Capability chapter, which is jointly responsible for all elements of clinical supply chain distribution for Roche/Genentech's global portfolio, comprising over 500 studies.
The global Network & Capability chapter is tasked with establishing the logistic framework and setup needed to enable optimized and reliable clinical distribution for all studies, managing more than 100,000 shipments annually across over 130 countries. This is achieved through the effective use of industry-leading clinical distribution strategies, processes, and systems.
The Logistics Specialist executes all shipments while ensuring they are processed efficiently and in compliance with country requirements. This role involves close collaboration with internal and external logistics partners, as well as the broader distribution community, including IT and the Roche network, to facilitate portfolio and pipeline delivery.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Manage operational order processes and handling of clinical supply shipments, including Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP), with drop shipments when applicable.
- Oversee all relevant documentation and licenses, ensuring compliance with country-specific requirements.
- Monitor shipments to guarantee on-time delivery, proactively addressing potential challenges and interruptions.
- Act as the primary contact for stakeholders and partners regarding shipping and logistics-related inquiries and activities.
- Collaborate closely with various site logistics teams, including warehouse operations, transportation, and customs management.
- Participate in projects and initiatives after gaining sufficient experience in the role.
Must Haves
- Degree or vocational training: Completed degree or apprenticeship in a relevant field.
- Background in Clinical Supply Chain, Logistics, Freight Forwarding, or related areas. Alternative backgrounds in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or Chemistry may be accepted if supported by relevant work experience in Supply Chain/Logistics.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) is strictly required; Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with ERP Systems: SAP knowledge is preferred, but experience with other domain-specific ERP/Logistics tools is acceptable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
- Fluent in both German and English, with proficiency in industry-specific vocabulary.

- System Affinity: High affinity for IT systems/ERP, with hands-on experience in SAP considered a significant advantage.
