Job Purpose
Aiglon College is renowned for providing a challenging and transformational holistic education in a safe, caring, and supportive environment. The school is CIS accredited and serves 480 students aged 7 to 18 from 70 different nations. Our unique educational philosophy is embedded from our youngest learners, with distinct focus areas for both junior and senior schools.
We are looking for a teaching assistant for the junior school, primarily to support students in Years 7 and 8. Experience in an international school context is a distinct advantage, and it is expected that the role will encompass approximately 20-30 hours per week, during term time only.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Support for Students
- Assist teaching staff in developing and educating pupils with specialized skills as needed.
- Provide support for students, either individually or in groups, particularly those with EAL considerations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with individual pupils and groups.
- Contribute to Individual Education Plans as appropriate.
- Support pupils during learning activities.
- Facilitate social and emotional development.
- Contribute to the health and well-being of pupils.
- Support bilingual/multilingual pupils as needed.
- Assist pupils with specific needs, including sensory or physical impairments and learning difficulties.
- Support Gifted and Talented pupils.
- Help develop literacy and numeracy skills.
- Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum.
- Attend to personal care needs of children as appropriate.
Support for the Teacher(s)
- Observe and report on pupil performance.
- Contribute to planning and evaluating learning activities.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining the learning environment.
- Help manage pupils’ behavior.
- Maintain records of pupils’ progress.
- Ensure pupils' safety and security.
- Supervise the class briefly in emergencies.
- Undertake routine marking in line with school policy.
- Provide administrative support, such as producing worksheets and invigilating examinations.
Support for the School
- Enhance teamwork within the school environment.
- Foster relationships with other professionals.
- Liaise with parents as appropriate.
- Continuously review and develop your own professional practice.
Support for the Curriculum
- Facilitate the use of technology in the classroom.
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
- Comply with Health and Safety regulations.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Adhere to Aiglon's ethos while exemplifying personal integrity and professionalism.
- Attend staff meetings and parental events as necessary.
- Execute any additional duties as stipulated for the smooth operation of Aiglon.
Other Tasks and Responsibilities
All staff must understand and implement school policies and procedures, particularly those related to safeguarding children and young people. You may also be required to undertake any other reasonable tasks requested by the Deputy Head of the Junior School to support the effectiveness of the team and uphold the school's guiding principles.
