Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated individual to support our desk in developing supply and demand models across a range of agricultural commodities. This role involves building new analytical models and processes aimed at enhancing efficiency based on the best practices in commodity fundamentals.

The successful candidate will produce ad-hoc analyses in response to short-term market developments, assisting the desk in advancing trading ideas. You will take ownership of the desk's data flows, including the onboarding of new datasets and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Maintenance of processes related to fundamental data operations is crucial, as is collaboration with different teams to capture cross-desk synergies and enhance systematic reporting of information flow.

Additionally, the role requires ad-hoc desk support for organizational or technical assistance.

Typical Day

• Verify that all models and visualizations are functioning as expected and address any data issues.
• Organize team Confluence pages to ensure all information remains current.
• Produce any ad-hoc analyses requested by traders or analysts.
• Collaborate on various long-term projects to develop market-leading analytical models.

Required Qualifications

• Advanced degrees (MSc preferred) in Mathematics, Statistics, or Quantitative Finance.
• Experience in quantitative research through prior internships or similar roles, preferably in commodities trading.
• Familiarity with highly quantitative trading asset classes, especially power trading, is a plus.
• Proficiency in Python is required; familiarity with Excel and VBA is advantageous.
• A demonstrated passion for investing and awareness of trends in commodities markets.
• Excellent writing skills and the ability to synthesize thoughts and organize information swiftly.
• Openness to undertake various projects and tasks as needed.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and regions.
