Your Responsibilities
In your role as an Instrumentation Development Engineer, you will focus on gas turbine instrumentation, playing a pivotal part in the development, enhancement, and lifecycle support of instrumentation systems. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams will be essential to ensure that our instrumentation solutions are robust, reliable, and high-performing.
- Develop new and improve existing gas turbine instrumentation.
- Analyze new engine requirements, project tenders, and customer contracts, consolidating instrumentation needs.
- Drive the development of new instrumentation from specification and design through to assembly, implementation, commissioning, testing, monitoring, and validation.
- Oversee the complete measurement chain, ensuring correct alignment of instrumentation with related system interfaces.
- Advise designers in creating and updating instrumentation documentation and integration into the product structure.
- Provide product support and act as the primary contact for instrumentation-related issues from field service, new units, suppliers, manufacturing, quality assurance, and power plant commissioning.
- Perform root-cause analysis and technical problem solving, including analyzing instrumentation signals and machine operational data.
Qualifications
- A university degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with a focus on aerospace, mechatronics, robotics, turbomachinery, process technology, or energy technology.
- Strong expertise in sensor integration design and measurement-chain engineering for harsh environments.
- Preferably experienced in dynamic measurement chains for rotor vibration and acoustics.
- Practical experience in power plant, gas turbine, or aero-engine applications is a plus.
- Proficient in 3D CAD tools; experience with Siemens NX® is advantageous.
- Ability to work in distributed, multidisciplinary teams with complex interfaces.
- Experience in measurement signal and data analysis; familiarity with LabVIEW® and MATLAB® is beneficial.
- Strong skills in root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods.
- Willingness to travel to power plants, construction sites, the factory in Genoa (Italy), or suppliers, approximately once per month on average, occasionally for up to two weeks.
- Excellent command of English; German is an advantage, and knowledge of Italian is a plus.
