We are looking to strengthen our team in Baden, Switzerland with your expertise and experience as an Instrumentation Development Engineer.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will focus on gas turbine instrumentation. As an Instrumentation Development Engineer, you will lead the development, enhancement, and lifecycle support of instrumentation systems. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure the delivery of robust, reliable, and high-performance instrumentation solutions. Your specific tasks will include:

  • Developing new instrumentation and improving existing systems for gas turbines.
  • Analyzing new engine requirements, project tenders, and customer contracts to define instrumentation needs.
  • Driving the development of new instrumentation from specification and design through assembly, implementation, commissioning, testing, monitoring, and validation.
  • Overseeing the entire measurement chain and ensuring the proper alignment of instrumentation with related system interfaces.
  • Advising designers on creating and updating instrumentation documentation and its integration into the product structure.
  • Providing product support and acting as the primary contact for instrumentation-related issues, including those from field service, new units, suppliers, manufacturing, quality assurance, and commissioning.
  • Performing root-cause analysis and technical problem-solving, including the analysis of instrumentation signals and machine operational data.

Your Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A university degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with a focus on aerospace, mechatronics, robotics, turbomachinery, process technology, or energy technology.
  • Strong expertise in sensor integration design and measurement-chain engineering for harsh environments.
  • Knowledge of dynamic measurement chains for rotor vibration and acoustics is preferred.
  • Practical experience in power plant, gas turbine, or aero-engine applications.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD tools; experience with Siemens NX® is advantageous.
  • A proven ability to work in distributed, multidisciplinary teams with complex interfaces.
  • Experience in measurement signal and data analysis; familiarity with LabVIEW® and MATLAB® is beneficial.
  • Skills in root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods.
  • A willingness to travel to power plants, construction sites, and our factory in Genoa (Italy), approximately once per month on average, occasionally for up to two weeks.
  • Excellent command of English; proficiency in German is advantageous, while knowledge of Italian is a plus.
