We invite you to strengthen our team in Baden, Switzerland, by bringing your expertise and experience to our Instrumentation Development Engineer position. In this role, you will be responsible for gas turbine instrumentation, focusing on its development, improvement, and lifecycle support. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure robust, reliable, and high-performance instrumentation solutions.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop new and enhance existing gas turbine instrumentation.
- Analyze new engine requirements, project tenders, and customer contracts to consolidate instrumentation needs.
- Drive the development of new instrumentation from specification and design through assembly, implementation, commissioning, testing, monitoring, and validation.
- Oversee the entire measurement chain and ensure correct alignment of instrumentation with related system interfaces.
- Advise designers in creating and updating instrumentation documentation and integrating it into the product structure.
- Provide product support and act as the primary contact for instrumentation-related issues from field service, new units, suppliers, manufacturing, quality assurance, and power plant erection or commissioning.
- Perform root-cause analysis and technical problem-solving, which includes analyzing instrumentation signals and machine operational data.
Your Qualifications
- University degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with a focus on aerospace, mechatronics, robotics, turbomachinery, process technology, or energy technology.
- Strong know-how in sensor integration design and measurement-chain engineering for harsh environments.
- Preferably experienced in dynamic measurement chains for rotor vibration and acoustics.
- Hands-on experience in power plant, gas turbine, or aero-engine applications is a plus.
- Knowledge of 3D CAD tools; experience with Siemens NX® is an advantage.
- Able to work effectively in distributed, multidisciplinary teams with complex interfaces.
- Experience in measurement signal and data analysis; familiarity with LabVIEW® and MATLAB® is beneficial.
- Skills in root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving methods.
- Willingness to travel to power plants, construction sites, or suppliers, approximately once a month on average, occasionally for up to two weeks.
- Excellent command of English; proficiency in German is advantageous, while knowledge of Italian is a plus.
