Job Title: Formulation Scientist - Composition, Particle & Process Design

Job Description

As a Formulation Scientist, you will lead the development of innovative formulations for food, dietary supplements, and oral pharmaceutical applications. Your expertise in emulsion and powder systems, as well as your understanding of underlying physical principles and characterization, will be vital in driving ideation, formulation design, and process development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead formulation development projects for food, dietary supplements, and oral pharmaceutical applications, contributing to cross-functional ideation and innovation activities.
• Apply experimental design and data analysis to optimize formulations and identify key material and process drivers.
• Develop and implement characterization methods to assess formulation and process performance.
• Analyze, interpret, and communicate scientific results through technical reports and presentations.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and scientific approaches, conduct literature and patent landscape searches, and collaborate with IP specialists when necessary.
• Ensure safe laboratory operations, support continuous improvement of laboratory infrastructure and processes, and train, coach, and guide laboratory staff and technicians.

Your Qualifications

• PhD in Pharmaceutical Technology, Food Technology, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field, or MSc with significant industrial formulation and process development experience.
• Strong expertise in at least two of the following areas: emulsification, spray drying, fluid bed processing, or extrusion, coupled with the ability to apply scientific principles across different processing technologies.
• In-depth understanding of the physical principles governing liquid and powder formulation systems, including experience with characterization techniques and analytical methods.
• Strong scientific problem-solving skills with a hands-on, results-oriented mindset.
• A collaborative team player capable of working effectively across disciplines and functions; fluent in English, and proficiency in German is a plus.
• Knowledge of tableting processes and experience in bioavailability enhancement and controlled-release technologies is highly desirable.
