Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English teacher to instruct an honors level class comprising academically motivated high school sophomores (ages 15-16) from various schools across the United States. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to engage students in the exploration of literary works and foster a love for literature.
The responsibilities of the position include:
- Regularly assessing students through writing assignments, tests, and exams.
- Providing instruction in the interpretation and analysis of a variety of literary forms, including novels, short stories, plays, and poems.
- Instructing students in narratology, grammar and syntax, vocabulary building, and essay writing methodologies.
- Advising a small group of 4-5 students to support their academic progress and personal development.
Requirements
- Native or C2 level proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Bachelor of Arts in English Teaching or Comparative Literature.
- Preferred master’s or PhD degrees, but not required.
- Strong teaching experience in American and British literature, along with a thorough understanding of the U.S. high school curriculum.
- Proven background in developing and refining writing skills among students, particularly in U.S. schools.
- Outdoor experience such as hiking, climbing, biking, and skiing is a plus, but not mandatory.
