Job Overview
As an IP Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company’s intellectual property (IP) strategy. Your responsibilities will include invention mining, assisting in patent drafting, conducting prior art searches, and managing the IP portfolio. You will collaborate closely with R&D teams, legal counsel, and external patent attorneys to ensure that the company’s innovations are effectively protected and align with our business objectives.
This position will report to the General Counsel and is based in Baden, Switzerland.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with R&D teams to identify patentable inventions and facilitate invention disclosures.
- Conduct prior art searches and provide patentability and freedom-to-operate analysis.
- Assist with internal and external patent drafting and prosecution processes.
- Maintain IP databases and generate regular reports on portfolio status.
- Monitor competitor patents and industry IP trends.
- Support IP litigation, licensing, and enforcement activities as needed.
- Provide training to engineers on IP awareness and best practices.
- Support the R&D Team in the U.S. and China.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Familiarity with patent systems in major jurisdictions (e.g., US, EP, CN).
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Experience with patent search tools.
- Patent Agent qualification or IP certification is a plus.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin.
