Are you ready to build and support the software systems that drive innovative pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturing? Proclinical is currently seeking an EI&C Software Application Engineer for a contract role based in Switzerland. In this exciting position, you will play a vital role in developing, configuring, and maintaining automation and manufacturing software applications, contributing to groundbreaking projects in the cardiovascular and CMO industries.

Responsibilities

• Develop, configure, and maintain automation and manufacturing software applications.
• Design, implement, and integrate solutions connected to DCS, MES, historians, databases, and related manufacturing systems.
• Create and maintain software solutions using technologies such as VBA, PowerShell, C, SQL, and Git-based version control systems.
• Prepare software design specifications, functional specifications, and other engineering documentation in compliance with GMP and company standards.
• Support system interfaces, data exchange, and integration between OT and IT platforms.
• Execute software testing, commissioning, qualification, and deployment activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software and system issues through root cause analysis.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications to improve reliability, performance, and user experience.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Automation, Manufacturing, Validation, Quality, and IT, throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data integrity, and change management requirements.

Key Skills and Requirements

• Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Strong IT background with expertise in software development, databases, networking, and system integrations.
• Experience with automation and manufacturing systems such as DCS, MES, or data historian platforms.
• Proficiency in programming and scripting languages, including VBA, PowerShell, C, and SQL.
• Understanding of software lifecycle management and application support.
• Experience working in GMP-regulated environments and creating GxP-compliant documentation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Fluency in English and/or German.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences manufacturing.
• Knowledge of DeltaV, Syncade, PI System, or similar industrial software platforms.
• Familiarity with software validation (CSV-CSA methodologies) and data integrity requirements.
• Understanding of OT infrastructure and cybersecurity principles.
