The Digital Strategy Director will spearhead the vision, design, and proof-of-concept delivery of JTI’s forward-thinking Digital Ecosystem, ensuring that our consumer experience aspirations are seamlessly transformed into cohesive and comprehensive digital and technological executions.

This role reports to the Vice President of Business Technology Services Marketing & Sales (BTS M&S) and collaborates closely with Global and Regional Marketing & Sales, Data and Analytics, and Digital teams to effectively lead diverse cross-functional stakeholders, engaging at all levels of seniority to drive alignment and deliver exceptional consumer experiences at scale.

Responsibilities Area

DIGITAL ECOSYSTEM CONCEPT & STRATEGY

  • Define and evolve the vision and roadmap for the Digital Ecosystem, ensuring an integrated journey-led approach across consumer, customer, and employee domains through shared data, platforms, and capabilities.
  • Establish a multi-category Digital Ecosystem that supports AI-enabled direct-to-consumer models and innovative commercial approaches (e.g., agentic commerce).
  • Guide the transition from current capabilities to a scalable future operating model, balancing continuity, risk management, and transformative strategies.
  • Shape the strategic integration of UX, CRM, content, and AI-enabled features (e.g., automation, personalization, decision support) to deliver cohesive, mobile-first, end-to-end user journeys.
  • Conduct capability assessments and benchmark externally to inform investment priorities and align with best practices in consumer-centric Digital Ecosystems.

DIGITAL ECOSYSTEM PROOF OF CONCEPT DELIVERY

  • Oversee the global delivery of the Digital Ecosystem proof of concept (PoC), ensuring cross-functional coordination and alignment with established success metrics.
  • Translate strategic directions into practical outcomes by collaborating closely with M&S, BTS M&S, D&IT, and Regional and Market teams during execution.
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and manage dependencies to ensure that delivery aligns with strategic objectives and provides measurable business value.
  • Capture insights from the PoC and convert them into scalable design principles for broader implementation.

STAKEHOLDER & ECOSYSTEM LEADERSHIP

  • Advocate for a consumer-journey-led and data-driven culture, instilling accountability for experience quality and performance across all functions.
  • Act as the strategic integrator among M&S, BTS M&S, D&IT, Regions, and Markets to align priorities, resources, and delivery plans.
  • Drive engagement with senior stakeholders, promoting collective responsibility for outcomes across business and technology functions.
  • Provide direction and oversight to external partners and vendors, ensuring quality, coherence, and realization of value.

GOVERNANCE, OPERATING MODEL & COMPLIANCE

  • Ensure initiatives adhere to D&IT policies, technology standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Advise on service delivery models, capability ownership, and resource allocation to support scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee budgets and vendor engagements, ensuring disciplined execution and alignment with strategic objectives.

Profile

  • 7-10+ years of experience in digital technology or IT, including senior leadership positions with responsibility for people and budgets, preferably in multinational organizations.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale, cross-functional digital or eCommerce initiatives across consumer, customer, and internal domains, ideally within FMCG or comparable consumer industries.
  • Knowledge of AI-enabled digital capabilities (e.g., personalization, automation, decision support) with the capacity to translate emerging technologies into business value.
  • Strong understanding of CRM, MarTech, eCommerce, and data platforms, and their roles in enabling end-to-end, journey-led consumer experiences.
  • Experience operating in global-to-local environments, effectively aligning global platforms with regional and market needs.
  • Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior business and technology stakeholders.
