Join Our Team as a Development Engineer - Combustor Mechanical Design

We utilize our own technology along with independent design, production, construction, commissioning, and service resources.

We are looking to strengthen our team in Switzerland (Baden) with your expertise and experience as a Development Engineer - Combustor Mechanical Design.

Your Tasks

  • Design and engineer combustor hardware, including burners, combustion chambers, and fuel distribution systems (FDS), for Ansaldo’s heavy-duty gas turbines.
  • Conduct stress analysis of combustor components using finite element methods.
  • Release design and manufacturing documentation, such as drawings, 3D CAD models, product structures, and part lists.
  • Perform feasibility studies for cost-effective design solutions.
  • Interface with the Gas Turbine Integration, Compressor, and Turbine departments for design integration tasks.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other engineering teams, sourcing, manufacturing, quality control, and external suppliers of combustor design services.

Your Profile

  • University degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with a focus on turbomachinery, aerospace, process technology, mechatronics, or energy technology.
  • Able to work in distributed, multi-disciplinary teams with complex interfaces.
  • Proficient in Root-Cause Analysis and structured problem-solving methods, such as 8D.
  • Experienced in using 3D CAD and finite element analysis tools; knowledge of NX12 and Ansys Workbench is advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to power plants, construction sites, the Ansaldo factory in Genoa (Italy), or to suppliers, typically 2 to 3 days a month.
  • Excellent command of English; proficiency in German is a plus and knowledge of Italian would be an asset.
