Join Our Team as a Development Engineer - Turbine Cooling (m/f)

As one of the world’s leading players in the power generation sector, Ansaldo Energia operates as a full-cycle integrated operator. We specialize in building turnkey power plants on greenfield sites using our proprietary technology along with independent design, production, construction, commissioning, and service resources.

We are looking to strengthen our team in Baden, Switzerland, with your expertise and experience.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop cooling systems for turbine components such as blades, vanes, and heat shields.
  • Prepare 3D thermal state analyses and evaluations of coolant consumption for cooled turbine parts.
  • Specify laboratory or real engine tests for design and method validation.
  • Collaborate with secondary flow and mechanical teams to optimize component lifespan and enhance gas turbine performance.
  • Design tests and specifications to ensure manufacturing quality.
  • Support the fleet for cooling systems related to turbine components.
  • Develop cooling methods, processes, and tools (e.g., film correlations for boundary layer film cooling modeling).
  • Engage in technical reviews, design decisions on cooling layouts, and expert group discussions.
  • Prepare cooling design, technology, validation reports, and cold flow specifications.
  • Ensure the quality of turbine cooling systems within the manufacturing testing and inspection plan.
  • Provide technical dispositions for manufacturing non-conformance reports.

Your Profile

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Relevant knowledge in cooling and heat transfer, thermodynamics, or fluid mechanics.
  • Experience with measurement techniques and laboratory instrumentation in heat transfer is advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of gas turbine technology, design, production, testing, technology development, seals, secondary air flow, failure analysis, and manufacturing technology is preferred.
  • Industrial or research experience of at least 3 years.
  • Flexible team player with strong communication skills.
  • Target-oriented individual who thrives on responsibility.
  • Strong technical, intellectual, and analytical abilities.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and culturally competent.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% globally.
  • Excellent command of English; proficiency in German is an advantage, and knowledge of Italian would be a plus.
