Your Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and continuously improve the Kubernetes-based platform and the managed services running on it, including MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Kafka.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and resilience through proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident management.
- Perform and automate Day-2 operations, including upgrades, patching, backup and restore processes, and capacity management.
- Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA) for incidents and issues in production and production-like environments.
- Implement, maintain, and enhance observability solutions, such as Prometheus, Grafana, and logging platforms.
- Collaborate closely with the engineering team to improve operational processes, runbooks, and automation initiatives.
- Participate in the on-call rotation to help ensure 24/7 service availability.
Your Profile
- A degree in Computer Science (University, University of Applied Sciences, Higher Technical Education, or equivalent) or a comparable education with several years of experience in IT operations.
- Strong expertise in Kubernetes and the operation of container-based platforms and services.
- Solid knowledge of observability tools and practices, including Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, and structured troubleshooting methodologies.
- Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Helm, along with CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Git, and Docker.
- Strong Linux and systems engineering experience in production environments.
- Hands-on operational experience with at least one of the following technologies: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or Kafka.
- Proven ability to quickly understand existing infrastructures and deliver improvements and operational stability from day one.
- A resilient and solution-oriented mindset, with the capability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Self-driven, collaborative, and experienced in agile and lean methodologies.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in German is an advantage.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Kubernetes certifications such as CKA, CKAD, or equivalent.
- Experience with CNCF technologies and tools, including ArgoCD, Velero, Cilium, and Kyverno.
- Knowledge of security hardening, secrets management, and access control concepts such as RBAC and IAM.
- Experience in IT Service Management (ITIL) and third-level support environments.
- Experience working in service provider, telecommunications, or managed services environments.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation; residing in Switzerland is required.
