Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to teach art history to academically motivated high school sophomores (ages 15-16) from diverse backgrounds across the United States.
This course delves into the evolution of painting, sculpture, and architecture, covering periods from the Prehistoric era up to the Baroque period, with a particular emphasis on Western European Art.
The objective of the course is to not only familiarize students with iconic works from each era but also to enhance their observational skills, enable them to articulate their thoughts with precision, and spark their creative imagination.
- The teacher will conduct four classes each day, covering the same material in all sessions.
- Regular assessment of students will be conducted through assignments, papers, tests, and exams.
- The teacher will work alongside at least one assistant teacher.
Requirements
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken (Native or C2 level).
- Bachelor of Arts in Art History.
- Master's or PhD degrees are highly preferred.
- Strong teaching experience.
- Advisory responsibilities for 4-5 students.
- Outdoor experience in activities such as hiking, climbing, biking, and skiing is a plus but not mandatory.
Additional Duties
- Evening study hall supervision.
- Residential duties in the dormitory.
- Participation in afternoon outdoor activities (hiking, climbing, skiing); preferred but not required.
Location
Zermatt, Switzerland
Dates of Position
- September 12 through December 10, 2025.
- Five-day faculty orientation in Zermatt prior to the commencement of the school year.
