Position Available: In Vivo Laborant (m/w/d)

This position is situated within In Vivo Sciences, a vital chapter of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS). Our focus lies in the Housing and Care of Laboratory Animals and the cutting-edge conduct of animal experiments in the realms of Pharmacology, PK/PD, and Toxicology. In Vivo Sciences oversees the Animal Facility in pRED, serving as a crucial business enabler for all in vivo studies.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The perfect candidate (m/f/d) will possess:

  • Completed vocational training in a biological or chemical laboratory field or significant hands-on experience with laboratory animals.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience as a lab technician, veterinary nurse, animal technician, or in a comparable role.
  • Preferably completed a laboratory animal science course.
  • Fluency in both English and German.

Work Hours

Standard working hours are 40 hours per week, with the possibility of weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve:

  • Conducting in vivo studies for rodents and rabbits in toxicology and pharmacokinetics, including clinical scoring and blood sampling.
  • Dosing through various routes (IP, IV, PO, Subcutaneous) and performing basic necropsy skills.
  • Collecting, documenting, reviewing, and verifying data on forms or in electronic data capture systems.
  • Participating as a team member in study activities on weekends on a rotational basis.
  • Optionally conducting or assisting with surgical procedures, including anesthesia, and providing pre- and postoperative care in accordance with best veterinary and animal welfare standards.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Training as an in vivo associate, biology laboratory assistant, or relevant experience in laboratory work with laboratory animals.
  • A minimum of two years of work experience in animal laboratory work (rats and mice).
  • An accredited animal course (LTK or FELASA) is mandatory.
  • Fluent communication skills in English.
