As Vice Principal, you will play a vital role in managing the day-to-day operations of the school while contributing to its strategic vision for the future. Collaborating closely with the Principal and senior leadership team, you will ensure alignment across academics, boarding, and pastoral care—creating an environment where every student feels challenged, supported, and valued.

This role seeks a leader who embodies both vision and precision—someone capable of motivating teams, enhancing collaboration, and upholding the highest standards of learning and wellbeing. Together with the Directors of Studies and Boarding, you will provide comprehensive oversight that sustains academic excellence and enriches the boarding experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the daily operations of the school, ensuring a well-organized, safe, and positive environment that enhances student learning and wellbeing.
  • Provide visible and effective leadership, embodying professionalism, integrity, and the school’s core values.
  • Collaborate closely with the Directors of Studies and Boarding to ensure cohesion, excellence, and consistency across academic and residential programs.
  • Oversee teaching and learning standards, promoting high expectations, innovative pedagogy, and consistent quality across departments.
  • Support the professional growth of staff through mentoring, performance development, and fostering a culture of collaboration and reflection.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the school in partnership with the Principal and Executive Leadership Team to implement long-term vision and improvement plans.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between academic, boarding, and pastoral teams, nurturing a holistic approach to student development.
  • Maintain safeguarding and child protection standards, acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer and promoting a culture of safety and care.
  • Lead initiatives focused on student behaviour and conduct, encouraging restorative practices and fostering an inclusive community.
  • Oversee quality assurance and compliance processes, including IB and NEASC accreditation, ensuring excellence in standards and documentation.
  • Engage in the school community by supporting key events, assemblies, and traditions that strengthen engagement and belonging.
  • Represent the school to parents and external partners, fostering trust, transparency, and a shared commitment to student success.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with extensive experience in international secondary education.
  • Honours Degree; a master’s in education or educational leadership is preferred.
  • Certification or considerable experience with the IB Diploma Programme.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and commitment to child protection.

Desirable:

  • Experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
  • Background in a boarding school environment.
  • Previous experience as an IB Coordinator or in a similar leadership role.
  • Familiarity with NEASC accreditation and data-informed school improvement.
  • Proficiency with digital tools for teaching, learning, and management.
  • Working knowledge of French (an asset).
